The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking a dynamic and vigilant Security Officer to help us create unforgettable experiences for our guests. As part of our dedicated Security team, you'll play a key role in safeguarding our vibrant 18-acre campus from fascinating exhibits to spectacular events. This isn't your typical security job! You'll patrol museum grounds, monitor surveillance systems, and enforce safety protocols all while being a welcoming face for visitors, assisting with events, coordinating with first responders, and handling vital logistics like packages and deposits. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to follow instructions and relay information clearly across multiple platforms. Must be comfortable working with a diverse public in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Be able to patrol the Museum's 18-acre campus on foot in all weather conditions. Must be able to stay calm under pressure, take initiative in resolving safety or security concerns, and effectively communicate with emergency services or Capitol Police. Must have availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. Considerable security experience, CPR certification, and prior work in a high-volume, customer-focused environment is a plus. VA DCJS 01-E certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) and a valid driver's license are required. Must be able to walk the Museum's 18-acre campus, both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Spanish fluency is a plus.
