Custodian, Full-Time
About the Role: Elderhaus, located in Wilmington NC are seeking a dedicated custodian to support the maintenance and cleanliness of our facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for our participants, staff, and visitors. Under the supervision of the Center Administrator, you will perform a variety of housekeeping and floor care duties in accordance with State, Federal, and Local regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Perform routine and deep cleaning of floors, carpets, bathrooms, windows, and furnishings according to established schedules and safety protocols. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including buffers, extractors, and disinfecting tools, ensuring proper use and storage. Respond promptly to emergency clean-up situations, including spills and biohazards, using Universal Precautions. Support facility operations by setting up and breaking down equipment for events, and assisting with furniture arrangement and inspection. Monitor supply levels, report maintenance issues, and participate in ongoing training to uphold safety, cleanliness, and infection control standards. Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred. CPR certification required. Qualifications: Prior custodial or janitorial experience in healthcare or educational settings preferred. Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and ability to meet EveryAge auto insurance standards. Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and follow directions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of health and nutrition. Commitment to safety and confidentiality.
