POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Qualified Professional (QP) will work as a leader and advocate within the mental health and behavioral support system, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive, client-centered care. The QP will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs, create care plans, and coordinate services. This position requires expertise in behavioral health, recovery principles, and a strong ability to guide and mentor clients on their journey toward stability and independence. This position requires the applicant to hold both a QMHP status, AND North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Certification OR Certificate of Peer Supports Supervision. Qualified Professionals (QPs) may be required to provide supervision to staff members of Associate Professionals (APs) and Paraprofessionals (PP) status.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Coordinate services and ensure person-centeredness throughout all phases of treatment planning and service delivery. Develop and implement individualized care and recovery plans (PCPs) in collaboration with clients, families, and support systems. Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate client strengths, needs, and goals, informing appropriate service interventions. Monitor service utilization to ensure alignment with clinical recommendations, service authorizations, and Medicaid billing rules. Adjust care plans as needed based on client progress, evolving needs, or changes in circumstances, and ensure timely plan updates. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all services provided, client interactions, and supervisory activities in accordance with Medicaid, DHHS, and MCO standards. Provide direct support, including skill development, emotional support, community linkage, and guidance on daily living activities. Supervise and support Associate Professionals (APs), Paraprofessionals (PPs), and Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) in accordance with DHHS supervision standards. Promote recovery-oriented care by educating clients and families about treatment options, wellness strategies, and self-advocacy tools. Champion client rights and preferences, ensuring treatment respects their dignity, autonomy, and cultural background. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, community partners, and families to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Advocate for client access to effective recovery services and resources, including housing, employment, healthcare, and peer support networks. Establish supportive, respectful, and trusting relationships with individuals receiving services, honoring their recovery journey. Remain informed of evolving best practices, Medicaid service definitions (especially 8G Peer Support Services), and regulatory requirements. Participate in continuing education and staff development to maintain Qualified Professional status and deliver high-quality care. CONTACTS Internal:

QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree in a human services field with 1+ year of experience, OR Bachelors degree in a human services field with 2+ years of experience, OR Bachelors degree in another field with 4+ years of experience in MH/DD/SAS. This position requires the applicant to hold both a QMHP status, AND North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Certification OR Certificate of Peer Supports Supervision. CPR, NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens Certifications (Required) Possess current, unrestricted, state appropriate drivers license Possess current, unrestricted, vehicle insurance and provide own transportation for use in fulfilling job requirements. Familiarity with CPSS roles and recovery principles. Strong understanding of the recovery process and trauma-informed care. Experience in Medicaid-based services and behavioral health settings is preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with Medicaid clients and in behavioral health settings. Crisis intervention training or relevant certifications. Familiarity with community resources in North Carolina WORK ENVIRONMENT Work performed in various settings, including medical centers, community agencies, outpatient facilities, client homes, and transport vehicles.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS Primarily sedentary, involving sitting, standing, walking, and occasional carrying of light items.
