JOB DESCRIPTION

Employment Type: Full Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt Salary Information:

$17.20 - $24.29/Hourly Who We Are Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command. CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems. Position Specifics The Shipfitter Helper 1 are used to prevent and/or extinguish fires at the incipient (beginning) stage. They monitor hot work sites to ensure that conditions do not change when combustible materials cannot be effectively removed, protected, or shielded. Shipfitter Helpers also require specialized training and are assigned to minimize damage that may be caused by a fire. If a fire does occur, they take appropriate actions to protect all workers. Minimum Requirements Perform successful completion of the fire-watch training Ensure safety awareness and ability to follow directions Must be able to work 1st & 2nd shift The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required US Person is required

Physical Requirements Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Frequently moves throughout the shipyard Work at heights and in confined spaces Must be able to ascend/descend

stairs/ladders/ramps,

aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 40 pounds May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams
