PARKS FOREMAN LOCATION:
PARKS GARAGE, 85 ROCK ROAD JOB SUMMARY: To insure that all grounds, parks and outdoor equipment are safe, functional, clean and present an appropriate and pleasant appearance so that they can be properly utilized and enjoyed by citizens. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Park Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting the Facility and Grounds Coordinator in the upkeep and maintenance of all City parks, grounds and facilities. Grass cutting, fertilizing, watering, weeding, planting, cultivating, trimming, etc., of the grounds at the Government Center, the Holloway Recreational Complex (Rec Center, pool, tennis courts, etc.), Vlasis Park, New Ballwin Park, The Pointe, Ferris Park and common ground areas. Cleaning, repairing, and upkeep of all park pavilions and restrooms. Brush Pick-up Program Maintenance and upkeep of all park facilities (picnic, tables, playground equipment, drinking fountains, jogging trails, fitness court, tennis courts, etc. Assistance with in-house construction and repair projects in parks and City facilities. Assistance with Snow Removal. Assistance with regular maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment. MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assistance with Citywide emergencies, such as snow removal. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Working knowledge of construction, maintenance, and landscaping practices and methods. Working knowledge and ability in the use of manual and power tools used on construction and maintenance projects (weed-eater, chainsaw, drill, brush chipper). Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods indoors and outdoors, under a variety of weather conditions, and lift up to 100 pounds. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions under close supervision. Ability to operate mowers, tractors, and trucks. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with supervisors and other employees, as well as independently as necessary. Ability to understand and work within safety guidelines. EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE JOB: Mowers Tractors Trucks Weed-eaters Auger Chainsaws Brush Chipper Hand Tools EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School or GED. Vocational Education preferred. One year experience in maintenance related work
Extensive hours required on weekend and in preparation for and during the annual Ballwin Days Festival each summer. Random periodic review of driver's license record. Participation in random, monthly drug testing required also.
