Essential Duties

Consults with teachers and administrators regarding specific students and/or groups of students. Works with various school teams to support multi-tiered systems of support for all students within their assigned schools. Interprets and utilizes data for the purpose of developing appropriate intervention plans for struggling learners within their schools. Conducts comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status. Conducts assessments and collects data by use of informal and non-standardized evaluation techniques. Counsels students individually and in small groups. Provides crisis intervention support for individual students and school communities when needed. Provides training for school staff members and parents on a wide variety of topics that impact student learning in school, including but not limited to child development and effective parenting practices. Assists parents in locating available educational and mental health resources in the community. Assists with school-wide initiatives to enhance students' social-emotional and leadership skills. Maintains professional skills through attending relevant in-service trainings, reading current literature and professional memberships. Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge of public school law, ethics and standards of practice for School Psychology. Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSOS). Knowledge of the MTSS framework and the Whole Child Model for providing educational supports for students. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the school environment. Ability to use data to formulate recommendations and to assist in the decision-making process for students. Ability to be self-directed, responsible and complete work within prescribed timelines. Ability to work collaboratively with all school stakeholders.

Education And Experience

Minimum

Master's Degree and Education Specialist's Degree in School Psychology 6 th year degree in School Psychology

Desirable

Knowledge and experience implementing evidence-based mental health interventions for students experiencing behavioral, social and emotional challenges in school.

Licensing / Certification Requirements

DPI licensure.
