Job Description Description: Safe Families for Children is a faith-motivated, community-based program designed to provide support to socially isolated parents facing crisis. You’ll join an excellent team that serves in East Central, IL. In this role you’ll work with parents, host families, faith communities, and community partners all to assist, strengthen, and support the family. Position Summary: The Family Coach/Community Engagement is a key role that bears responsibility for the monitoring of children and supporting parents and coordinating services. Provide safety oversight of SFFC program implementation. Provide supervision and training for SFFC volunteer family coaches serving in each of the partner churches Develop relationship with referral sources and ensure # of referrals to meet performance metrics. Provide emergency, on-call support to staff and volunteers in SFFC program. Core Responsibilities: Assist in promoting community relations and program publicity which includes: outreach to community service providers. Maintain effective relationships with church representative and community agencies. Responsible for overseeing, training, and supporting Family Coach and Host Family volunteers on all aspects of the hosting process, including being available on an emergency, on-call basis. Family coaches help parents set goals and efficiently work to fulfill those goals. Participate in networking with local community resource providers to create a referral base and resource network. Develop and implement trainings for volunteer coaches and on-going training for Safe Family volunteers and parents. Participate in tracking/reporting of information pertinent to recruitment, training, and
clearing/certifying
volunteers. Assist in the Safe Family selection, transportation, and placement of children into host family homes and other supportive services with Safe Family volunteers. Assist in the connection of Safe Families volunteers, local churches, and community members Maintain current knowledge pertaining to Safe Families family coaching; continue professional development through seminars and conferences. Participate in all Safe Family staff functions, weekly meetings, and supervision. Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement activities. Participate in fundraising activities and other events to promote the Safe Families for Children movement. Other Duties as assigned which could include helping with social media, fundraising, database management, etc. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience collaborating with local faith communities Previous experience, including recruiting, training, and mobilizing large groups of volunteers Public speaking experience in a variety of settings including child welfare, faith communities, and collaborative networks Have an understanding of and implement health and safety responsibilities Ability to prioritize and work under pressure Flexibility to respond to a changing environment Safe Families for Children is an equal opportunity employer. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, or commensurate experience Experience working with at-risk children and families The ability to schedule one’s time and to work autonomously. Will provide own transportation and willing to transport children as need One must also be able to communicate effectively and work with staff, volunteers, and community partners. Must be willing and able to support the mission of Safe Families Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed Must have a strong work ethic, be motivated, take initiation and a self-starter Must be organized and possess attention to detail
