Responsibilites: Position will lead a group of technicians in the primary goal of turnaround service tasks ahead of the normally traveling race team for cars, parts and subassemblies used in rotation. Role will include participation of track team testing days as the Chief Mechanic including straight line and wind tunnel test. Also support of on road race team turnarounds is possible. Work targets and overview will be established with Assembly Manager and Crew Chief . Lead daily planning and communication for shop technicians within the development group that meet defined targets and deadlines. Ensure all parts are built to the same specification. Components are safely joined, bolted or otherwise assembled following process outlined. Assembly of mockup and development parts will be required with written and verbal feedback. Ensure technicians are following engineering specifications and the final product meets Indy Car and Team Penske requirements. Understanding of Indy Car rules, technical bulletins and Mechabook. Maintain accurate records of service, mileage and damage information. With communication to assembly manager, crew chief and build leaders. Work with group leaders to maintain the defined inventory stock levels. Monitor the work being performed within the work area to assure that all employees are working towards maintaining the production schedule and meeting quality requirements.
Give consistent feedback and direction to employees who do not meet expectations.
Maintaining and enhancing inter-departmental relationships
Working with shared resources and departments to meet the goals, expectations.
Active involvement of continuous preparation improvement, processes, materials, equipment, people, and knowledge. Ensure self and others are following best practices with Personal Protective Equipment. Ensure the shop floor and race-track is clean and meets team expectations for appearance.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have at minimum of a high school diploma. Minimum 10 years technical experience in professional motorsport or related field.
Motorsports technician / crew chief background.
IndyCar, NASCAR, IMSA, WEC or F1 championships preferred.
Minimum 10 years of Professional motorsports track experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement required. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills required. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing team members required. Desired / Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft Suite
Excel experience required SharePoint experience required Outlook experience required PowerBi desired
