This position is located in the Office of Education Technology (OET), Office of the Secretary for Education, Smithsonian Institution. The OET operates education programs that reach teachers, students, and the general public, including digital platforms such as websites, digital tools, and learning interactives.

You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system.
Specialized experience is defined as
experience in educational technology as an educational technologist in PK-12, higher education IT professional, educational technology in a non-profit or for-profit educational technology company, or experience working in PK-12 integrating technology into classroom instruction; and PK-12 teaching experience, front-end web development, and product management. In addition, candidates must demonstrate each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail:
Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service:
Anticipates and meets the needs of internal and external partners and customers, providing information or assistance, delivering high-quality products and services, and managing relationships effectively. Oral Communication:
Makes clear and convincing presentations, listens effectively, clarifies information, and communicates appropriately for the audience, facilitating open exchange of ideas and handling sensitive topics with agility. Problem Solving:
Identifies and analyzes problems, evaluates information, generates solutions, and makes sound recommendations. Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), and other organizations. Volunteer work can help build relevant skills and experience. Both part-time and unpaid experience will be considered; please note hours worked weekly.
