Position Summary
The Patient Services Specialist performs general administrative clerical duties including registering patients for the front desk of the ambulatory clinic setting. This role is responsible for various clerical duties and administrative/business details such as scheduling appointments, managing incoming phone calls, and accurately checking in and checking out patients in accordance with standard work and procedure.
Position Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalency (GED)
Associate degree in healthcare administration or equivalent college coursework, preferred.
Experience
Previous Medical Office experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of individuals.
Ability to identify and solve problems independently.
Excellent in verbal and communication skills.
Excellent Customer Service skills.
Check In Core Skills
EPIC complete registration to include:
Update or verify complete patient demographics
Eligibility and scan of correct insurance cards
If SELFPAY- offer Standard SPN Sliding Fee application and have acknowledgment signed – Primary Care ONLY
ESign consent for treatment and insurance authorization if due
Patient appointment arrival using all pertinent standard work
Patient reminder calls, daily review and actions for cancels and/ or request to reschedule as well as live calls as assigned for appointment reminders with a goal to decrease unused appointments slots daily.
Phone Assistance-
Greet / Answer phone calls with kind courtesy tone
Assist patient with scheduling, reschedule etc. appointments
Create Inbox messages as needed to assist patients
Refill request for medications etc.
Be competent on identifying RED words.

Generate No Show letters through Epic
