Senior Manager, External Communications
based in Arlington, VA. This role will lead strategic communications efforts and define IDT's external brand voice. Using software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI capabilities, IDT aims to accelerate development, improve operational readiness, and reduce lifecycle costs for the DOD. Overview : This position will develop and execute an external communications strategy to enhance IDT's visibility, credibility, and positioning in the defense market. The Senior Manager will create high-impact content, increase executive visibility, promote thought leadership, and manage public relations campaigns targeting stakeholders such as DoD policymakers, acquisition officials, industry partners, and potential employees. The role supports IDT's business development and growth by aligning messaging with campaign efforts, capability development, and recruitment strategies. This position reports to the Executive Vice President and collaborates closely with the Business Development team, executive leadership, and technical experts. All applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance. Responsibilities Include : Leadership & Strategy :
Develop and implement a comprehensive external communications and brand strategy aligned with company growth. Advise senior executives on communication opportunities, risks, and brand positioning. Coordinate with external PR/media agencies and branding vendors. Support business development and customer engagement through targeted messaging. Content Development & Brand Management :
Oversee creation of marketing content such as videos, presentations, and speeches. Collaborate with experts to produce white papers, capability briefs, and executive communications that support business pursuits. Maintain consistent brand voice and messaging across platforms. Translate technical solutions into compelling narratives for government stakeholders. Drive thought leadership via blogs, speaking abstracts, and media placements. Digital Communications & Analytics :
Manage digital presence including website, social media, and multimedia outreach. Monitor engagement metrics and refine strategies to increase impact. Coordinate visual storytelling and brand collateral with design partners. Minimum Required Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field (Master's preferred). - 12+ years of experience in external communications or brand strategy, preferably in defense, aerospace, or government technology sectors. - Demonstrated success in developing communication strategies and content across formats. - Ability to develop high-quality written, verbal, and visual content. - Strong understanding of government contracting and federal customer environment. - Experience managing cross-functional teams and vendors. - Proficiency with digital platforms and tools for content amplification. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Preferred Skills : - Experience with AI-driven content creation or marketing automation tools. - TS / SCI clearance or ability to obtain one. Core Competencies : -
