$26.90/hr - $33.43/hr The Aspen School District seeks a Preschool Paraprofessional for The Cottage.

Position Title: Preschool Paraprofessional

Department: The Cottage

Reports to: Preschool Director

Classification: Classified Full-time Non-Exempt/Hourly

Contract Period: 9 Month (188 days with some variance depending on the year)

Compensation: $26.90 - $33.43 per hour DOE

Preschool Paraprofessional Position Summary

The Preschool Paraprofessional shares responsibility for the care and education of an assigned group of children. The position is responsible for implementing curriculum, supervising children, communicating with parents, and providing a healthy and safe environment for children ages infant to 5 years.

Preschool Paraprofessional Responsibilities

Instructional Support

Reinforcing Creative Curriculum lessons and activities introduced by the lead teacher, either with individual students or small groups. Assisting with the preparation of instructional materials, such as setting up art supplies, cutting out decorations, or organizing learning centers. Helping the children understand and complete assignments and activities. Helping children with early literacy skills.

Student Supervision and Management

Supervising children during various activities, including playtime, meals, naptime, and transitions. Monitoring student behavior and helping to enforce classroom rules and procedures. Ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment, both indoors and on the playground. Providing emotional support and a friendly, nurturing presence for the children.

Personal Care and Health

Assisting children with personal hygiene, which may include handwashing, toileting, or diapering. Helping children with eating activities, such as serving snacks and meals. Administering basic first aid and reporting any signs of illness or injury to the teacher.

Clerical and Administrative Tasks

Performing routine clerical duties like filing, duplicating materials, and maintaining children's records. Assist in recording student attendance and progression of student learning and development using Teaching Strategies GOLD Opening and closing the classroom at the beginning and end of the day Helping to set up and organize the classroom. Sharing in the responsibility of required preschool housekeeping duties Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality. Act consistently in ways that directly support the missions, educational objectives, and codes of ethical conduct of the Aspen Preschool and the Aspen School District Attend staff meetings, training and professional learning as appropriate and required.

Collaboration and Communication

Working closely with the lead teacher to implement lesson plans and support classroom goals. Communicating observations about student progress or behavior to the teacher. Collaborating with other staff members and, when necessary, communicating with parents about routine issues and situations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of: Curriculum and implementation Preschool classroom management Professional communication norms and standards (written and oral) Modern office procedures, methods and equipment usage, including computers, software, etc. Principles and procedures of record-keeping Microsoft Office and/or the Google Suite of office software Ability to: Support the social and emotional development of all children to advance intellectual and physical competence Demonstrate concern for personal differences between individuals to develop the interests and capabilities of all children Foster an enjoyment of learning while helping young children understand their roles as members of a group to establish positive and productive reciprocal relationships within the classroom Learn new information and receive additional training and professional development

Minimum Qualifications

Must be in compliance with the requirements of 7702.45 of the Colorado Department of Human Services. High School Diploma or equivalent Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificate - training provided by the Aspen School District

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year experience in preschool environment or related field Bachelor's Degree Preschool experience, degree or course Spanish bilingual

Work Environment

Preschool classroom setting Office environment; exposure to computer screens Mostly clean and comfortable surroundings Exposure to noise and bodily fluids

Essential Physical Requirements

Physical: Reaching, walking, standing, sitting,squatting, stooping typing, talking, crouching, kneeling, seeing, and hearing. Occasional lifting of up to 25lbs.
