START DATE: AUG or SEPT **MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXP*** 50 mile radius rule, DL is source of truth, please include with submission, no local rates Medical Solutions Pre-Screens, if clinical recommends, sends to manager for approval to offer, no 2nd interview must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, traveler has 2 attempts., if failed, will be DNU with CS AZ and Sac Region for 6 months *Travel Teams must have their own vehicles *must have natural hair color and no facial piercings *men must clean shave for fit test *pass fail exam on day 1 of orientation - details to follow DAY 1 PASS FAIL SIMs Lab: All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes, with the exception of NyICU & ED. NyICU only has to do Foley catheter insertion. ED does Foley catheter insertion but does port-a-cath insertion instead of central line dressing change. This is for travelers going to St. Joseph main campus &/or St. Joseph Westgate campus. NOTE - SIMs lab is pass/fail & nurses have been termed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field. Those travelers that understand sterile field typically pass SIMs Lab skills (See separate notes for the specific checklist IF traveler asks for additional details). The hospital expects that every nurse is competent in these areas, especially maintaining sterile field, as these are nursing skills that are performed frequently. NOTE: if a candidate indicates that they are not competent in either of these areas, they are probably not a good fit. In addition to SIMs Lab, they will also go through lifts, restraints, & wound care, but these are just educational based since the equipment & policies can be different facility to facility. UNIT: Cardiac Tele - Tower 7 Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:3 or 1:4 Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients CABG, MVR, STEMI, HF, Fundoplication, VATS Decordication, vascular repair Experience or 'Must have' skills Experience with post-op Cardiovascular Surgery Patients is highly recommended, but not required Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Tele Techs located off unit and monitoring. RN should be able to interpret common rhythms. GE tele packs and monitors. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Resource/Charge nurse ideally does not take patients Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios 1 PCT for 16 beds RT Equipment (i.e., Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents, etc.) Cpap, BiPap, HFNC Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) self scheduling allowed as requests. shifts balanced with scheduler. Weekend Requirement 3 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule block Holiday Requirement yes Is there Call or a Standby requirement? No Floating Requirements?
