The Organization
Now at fourteen years old, The Kitchen is a San Francisco Jewish landmark institution, focused on building a stellar shabbat community, with our formula of combining a generous approach both to tradition and the wide variety of people we serve. Serving thousands locally (350 households, with many non-members joining us every week), we also regularly advise communities, rabbis, and Jews in places as far away as Jerusalem, Paris, and Berlin.
The Opportunity
The Kitchen is seeking a dedicated operations and administrative professional to strengthen our core functions and facilitate the execution of our programming for our growing community and partners.
Job Description
This role will support the Executive Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. The responsibilities include performing key administrative tasks across various functions such as membership, development, event execution, education, and communications. Support will also be provided to the Director of Family Education and Kitchen Clergy in an administrative capacity. The ideal candidate will manage multiple work streams, be hands-on, and work closely with the Executive Director to bring structure and efficiency to the organization and its members.
Event Operations :
Oversee event production, manage operations associates, and provide hands-on support as needed. Events include but are not limited to:
All Shabbat services, High Holidays, Sukkot, Passover Seder, and the weekend Kitchen Retreat at Camp Newman.
Assist in planning and executing adult education activities and rabbinic/ritual programming.
Support Kitchen Social Club event programming.
Manage procurement of event spaces, maintain relationships with venues and vendors.
Ensure billing is up to date for venues and vendors.
Serve as the point of contact for B’nai Mitzvah families.
Provide support for programs like Freedom School, Kitchen Playground, and Freedom City as needed.
Office / Administration :
Collaborate with the Director of Family Education to support Freedom School, Kitchen Playground, and Freedom City, including logistical needs, enrollment, registrations, and tracking tuition.
Manage calendaring, monthly and weekly emails, CRM/Shulcloud training, and support.
Coordinate with Marketing & Communications to ensure program details are accurate and the website is up-to-date.
Assist the Executive Director with membership relations, recruitment, tracking, and reporting, as well as development and fundraising efforts.
Manage office equipment and technology, including Shulcloud, Google Suite, Mixlr, Chargify, Zoom, Squarespace, Dropbox.
Ensure data security, integrity, and confidentiality.
Maintain inventory of hardware, software licenses, and A/V equipment.
Assist with recruiting and hiring processes, and work with the ED to develop HR policies ensuring equity and compliance.
Monitor and maintain office and program supplies inventory.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Director of Family Education, or Founding Rabbi.
Project Management :
Manage special projects and support team members' work as needed.
Work with the ED to establish organization-wide processes for planning, executing, and monitoring projects, including board management, development, and engagement programming.
Assist in managing project budgets, anticipate challenges, troubleshoot proactively, evaluate outcomes, and document lessons learned.
Maintain clear communication among project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications :
Basic understanding of Jewish culture and tradition.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on timely responses.
Attention to detail and consistency.
Ability to create project plans, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Availability to attend Shabbat, holidays, and events, including nights and weekends as needed.
Ability to handle mailing, shipping, supplies, bills, errands, and have access to a car.
What We Offer
Salary :
$75,000 - 85,000, commensurate with experience. Hybrid work arrangement :
