The opportunity: The Operational Procurement, Regional Director role offers a career opportunity to leverage extensive procurement knowledge and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to minimize supplier disruptions. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: Serve as a key point of contact for operations and implement procurement initiatives to help achieve financial goals. Mitigate value erosion by establishing business processes that enhance Operational Effectiveness and Efficiency (OEE), ensuring third-party procurement meets operational requirements with quality, support, and at the lowest total cost. Build and foster relationships with stakeholders, promoting collaboration and breaking down silos to improve cross-functional cooperation; act as liaison across all business units and procurement. Develop methods, tools, and processes to ensure supply continuity, qualified suppliers, and continuous improvement across operational sites including mills, packaging, and automation. Implement category strategies and improvement initiatives aligned with business roadmaps, with clear actions, owners, and deadlines. Ensure procurement is included in relevant supplier discussions to maintain the relevance and effectiveness of the procurement value proposition. Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to promote positive interactions and ensure performance standards are met. Collaborate with category management to influence strategies and supplier relationships. Maintain a competent and skilled procurement team aligned with current and future business needs. Promote procurement best practices and bring commercial expertise to stakeholders for sound decision-making. Identify demand, intervene proactively, and facilitate faster execution of procurement needs. Expedite critical procurement activities across categories to ensure excellent service delivery. Support stakeholders with procurement engagements, providing expertise and triaging to category teams when needed. Manage key procurement programs, communicate progress, and address issues proactively to ensure successful project delivery. What you need to succeed : 15+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or operations. Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years in a leadership role with talent development responsibilities. Experience leading regional teams and supporting multiple locations. Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with VP, SVP, and C-suite executives. Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, prior to employment start.
