System Administrator
The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Cavender's hybrid infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud environments, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, enterprise systems, and network security. Reporting to the Director of IT, Security, Network, Infrastructure, this role supports critical enterprise IT services, ensures system availability, strengthens cybersecurity posture, and drives automation initiatives to improve efficiency and performance. Duties and Responsibilities: Support the "Cavender's Culture" and drive the Mission, Vision and Values Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers in on-premises and cloud environments. Manage virtual infrastructure platforms such as VMware ESXi, vCenter, or Hyper-V. Oversee core infrastructure services including Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, file, and print services. Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory, including MFA, conditional access, and license management. Support hybrid identity solutions (e.g., Azure AD Connect, Entra ID) and Microsoft collaboration tools (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive). Deploy, configure, and manage endpoint tools (e.g., NinjaOne RMM, Zoho MDM, Microsoft Defender, BitDefender). Implement and enforce Group Policy Objects (GPOs), security baselines, patch management, and application control policies. Maintain and optimize backup and disaster recovery solutions, including Barracuda and Azure Backup, and conduct regular DR testing. Apply system patches, updates, and hardening standards to meet compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST, SOX, or ISO 27001. Coordinate with SOC/MDR teams for monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response. Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) to automate provisioning, patching, and reporting tasks. Document infrastructure, configurations, and processes to support IT operations and compliance. Assist with technology projects and other duties as assigned by IT leadership. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience in system administration (Windows/Linux). Proficiency in Azure IaaS/PaaS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Group Policy management. Experience managing VMware or Hyper-V virtualized environments. Knowledge of network services, IP addressing, VPNs, firewalls, and basic routing/switching concepts. Hands-on experience with endpoint security, patch management, and compliance tools. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Preferred Skills: Industry certifications (e.g., MCSA, Azure Administrator Associate, Security+, Network+, CISSP). Familiarity with compliance standards (CMMC, NIST, ISO). Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python. Experience with ITSM, ticketing systems, and asset management platforms.
