BAIN CAPITAL SPECIAL SITUATIONS OVERVIEW Bain Capital Special Situations has $19 billion in assets under management and has invested $35 billion in more than 900 deals across a balanced geographic mix of investments in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific since its founding in 2002. We provide bespoke capital solutions to meet the diverse needs of companies, entrepreneurs, and asset owners - in all market cycles. The strategy brings together equity and credit expertise, as well as corporate and real asset expertise, to provide solutions which cannot be met by traditional providers or other funds within Bain Capital. Our dedicated, global team of 141 investment and portfolio professionals contribute the local expertise and capabilities that enable these diverse investments. GSS TEAM OVERVIEW The Global Special Situations group is comprised of 25 U.S. team members, who spend their time sourcing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, preparing investment recommendations, and monitoring the universe of investments they follow. Team members interact regularly with the Investment Committee and Portfolio Management teams to communicate and refine their recommendations, as well as collaborate extensively with their peers across the broader Bain Capital platform. We are currently hiring experienced Analysts and Associates for our North America Special Situations group in our Boston office beginning in the Spring/Summer of 2025. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform fundamental company-specific due diligence: visit company management, conduct proprietary research in the field (with customers, suppliers, etc.), and analyze financial statements Perform industry-level analyses, including market data research, speaking to industry experts, and attending industry conferences to inform the investment process and provide critical context Build out company models, perform valuation analysis, and analyze returns sensitivities Make proactive buy/sell recommendations and effectively communicate your views with team members Learn and adopt the firm’s straightforward investment process, characterized by direct verbal communication and concise written investment summaries supported by in-depth data-driven analysis (i.e., quantitative models of market size/growth, competitive positioning, and financial statements/analysis valuation) QUALIFICATIONS Strong academic credentials (BS/BA from highly-regarded institution) and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience 1-3 years experience with an investment management firm, management consulting, investment banking, or venture capital/private equity firm Experience analyzing and/or evaluating companies A fundamental, analytically driven approach to investing with strong analytical/modeling capability Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and strong relationship-building skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly.
