Massachusetts Convention Center Authority May 22, 2024 Boston, MA Share About The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority Established in 1982, The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority(MCCA) is an independent public authority of the Commonwealth. TheAuthority is governed by a 13-member board of directors. Nine membersare appointed by the Governor, 2 members are appointed by the Mayor ofBoston, and 2 (ex officio) members are the Secretary of Administrationand Finance and the Collector-Treasurer of the City of Boston or theirdesignees. Located in the center of Boston, the MCCA owns and oversees the operations of the largest convention centers in the Northeast, the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center (Hynes) in addition to the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, The Lawn On D, Lot On D and the Boston Common Garage. In 2023, the MCCA hosted 272 events at the BCEC, Hynes and MassMutual Center with 660,000 attendees, generating 555,000 hotel room nights, and $845 million in economic impact. Today, MCCA has 426 employees with an annual budget of approximately $95 million and its state-of-the-art facilities manage and promote a wide range of events from high school graduations to exhibitions to athletic events. Its facilities are widely acclaimed for offering large scale accommodations. The facility bookings currently extend to the year 2038. Learn more about MCCA at The Opportunity The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (“MCCA”) is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as its next Executive Director. This is an opportunity to steer MCCA’s path towards a future that is both ambitious and inclusive, while shaping the Massachusetts convention industry as a whole. The Executive Director will effectively spearhead initiatives that generate significant economic activity for the region by attracting conventions, trade shows, festivals, and a variety of events. This leader will play a central role in overseeing operations at the MCCA’s centers in Boston and Springfield, along with its parking facilities. A key aspect of this role will be establishing and executing forward-thinking plans, objectives, and policies that prioritize inclusivity and equity, gaining approval from the MCCA Board. The ideal candidate’s role will extend beyond operational excellence. The MCCAseeks a leader who can authentically represent the Authority with a range of key constituents. This includes major customers, representatives from the financialand government communities, and the general public. In this capacity, theExecutive Director will be a transformative leader, shaping a more inclusive pathfor the convention industry in Massachusetts. Compensation & Benefits The annual salary for this role will be based on a range of $250,000 - $320,000 (plus performance incentive and generous benefits package) and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills and experience. As the Executive Director of the organization, the flexibility to adapt schedules to meet business needs on-site throughout the week and in community after work hours is necessary, including regular travel to the Springfield site and outside of Boston and / or Massachusetts for other important business opportunities.
