Job Summary The Senior Manager of Credit Products - Specialized (Counterparty) is responsible for overseeing first-line credit underwriting and portfolio management within an assigned vertical, ensuring alignment with the bank’s risk appetite and business objectives. This role manages a team of underwriters and credit professionals, ensuring accurate risk grading, loan evaluation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. Utilizing data-driven insights and portfolio analytics, the Senior Manager identifies emerging risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to leadership to support sound credit decisions. Collaborating with sales, risk, and technology teams, this role helps drive responsible growth, improve underwriting processes, and enhance credit product offerings. With a focus on operational execution, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, the Senior Manager plays a key role in maintaining portfolio quality and supporting the bank’s long-term success.

Job Responsibilities: Assessing and monitoring counterparty creditworthiness:

Analyzing financial statements, credit reports, market data, and other relevant information to determine the credit risk associated with counterparties.

Developing and implementing risk frameworks and policies:

Establishing and maintaining strategies to measure, monitor and mitigate counterparty credit exposure.

Analyzing exposure limits:

Recommending and enforcing limits on credit exposure to individual counterparties and portfolios of transactions.

Conducting risk analysis:

Performing detailed analysis of derivatives, repos, swaps, and other financial products to identify and evaluate counterparty credit risk.

Collaborating with internal teams:

Working closely with trading, banking, legal, and operations teams to structure transactions, review collateral arrangements, and ensure compliance with internal risk policies & regulatory requirements.

Underwriting:

Creating detailed reports on counterparty credit risk for individual financial institutions.

Participating in credit approval committees:

presenting risk assessments and recommendations to support credit approval decisions.

Identifying and addressing noncompliance:

Recommending and implementing corrective actions for counterparties that are not adhering to their obligations.

Participating in system enhancements and new product evaluations:

Supporting firmwide initiatives related to risk management systems and new product offerings.

Maintains visibility and deep knowledge of bank relationships within the assigned specialized region or vertical to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Executes on the strategic priorities set by the Head of Credit Products, Line of Business leaders, Credit Products Senior Director and 2nd and 3rd Line Risk partners to ensure alignment with enterprise goals.

Establishes and fosters a shared vision across assigned regions and verticals, ensuring consistency in credit decisioning and risk management practices.

Attracts, develops, and retains top talent within Credit Products by providing leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities for underwriters, portfolio managers, and credit analysts.

Collaborates closely with Sales, Credit Products, and Risk teams to drive responsible growth, optimize credit decisioning, and enhance portfolio performance

Serves as a key point of contact for deal flow assignment, credit risk reviews, and escalations, ensuring timely and well-informed credit decisions.

Leverages data-driven insights and analytics to identify emerging credit risks and opportunities, proactively adjusting strategies as needed.

Well versed in legal documentation (e.g., Credit Agreements) and positioned to both develop more junior associates on the topic and interact with internal and external legal counsel and negotiate terms directly with clients.

Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk frameworks while supporting continuous process improvements.

Supports senior leadership in delivering portfolio analysis and reporting, contributing to strategic decision-making.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Performs special projects, to include continuous improvement and transformation initiatives, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications: Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Business, Economics or related field.

Minimum experience required: 12+ Years of 1st line of defense credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management experience within the Financial Industry including credit strategy and credit analytics.

5+ years of experience in managing teams of credit analysts, underwriters in the specialty vertical.

5+ years of experience in the direct specialized line of business (Specialized commercial industries, capital markets, corporate commercial banking, etc.)

Experience and expertise in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit and cash flow modeling for underwriting and portfolio management decisions, income/identity verification and loss forecasting.

Preferred Qualifications: Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent)

Job Competencies: Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to credit decisions, ensuring compliance in underwriting and portfolio management.

Proficiency in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, underwriting models, and portfolio management strategies, with experience in income/identity verification and risk assessment.

Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate credit analysis into actionable strategies and policies for key stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to business strategy by incorporating industry knowledge and market trends into credit risk assessments and recommendations.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and execute tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Strong leadership and team development skills, fostering collaboration, coaching, and professional growth within the credit team. Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.
