Introduction

The State of Connecticut (https://portal.ct.gov/) , Office of the Governor (OTG) (https://portal.ct.gov/governor?language=en_US) , is looking for a Digital Media Director (Executive Office Administrative Aide 1 (https://www.jobapscloud.com/CT/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=3551EX&R1=undefined&R3=undefined) ) to serve as a dynamic digital media content creator to drive the Governor’s digital media engagement through creative videos, social media, and print.

This position is appointed by the Governor in accordance with the provisions of Sections 3-1 and 5-198 (10) and (18) of the Connecticut General Statutes.

The Role:

Governor Ned Lamont is building a stronger, more equitable Connecticut: cutting taxes, investing in education and climate, supporting small businesses, and creating jobs and this role will help share that story with the state.

As part of a high-performing communications team, you'll shape the Governor’s digital voice across platforms including Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. You’ll lead strategy, write compelling copy, and create content that transforms routine moments into standout stories. From press conferences to policy rollouts, you know how to find the angle and package it in a way people actually want to share.

The Digital Media Director will work directly with the Governor and Communications Director as part of the Governor’s Executive Team to drive policy and engagement on a broad range of public policy topics, including education, health care, housing, transportation, and expanded economic opportunity and affordability for all.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Office of the Governor or Lieutenant Governor this class serves as an assistant in a wide variety of administrative, staff or liaison functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Professional experience in digital content creation

Proficiency in the Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop and Premiere Pro

Experience conveying information, ideas, and instructions verbally and in writing ensuring clarity and understanding

Commitment to advancing the policy goals of the Agency

Experience with graphic design, photography, video editing, web design or content management

A digital native who gets the rhythm, format, and voice of each platform

Experience building audiences and driving engagement

Experience as a creative visionary strategically crafting and delivering impactful video narratives

A self-starter who moves fast, thinks strategically, and works collaboratively
