Cybersecurity Systems Engineer
to join our System Engineering Support Services (SESS) team. The role involves performing cybersecurity-related technical assessments and design tasks on cyber physical, logical, and embedded devices. The position is based in San Diego, CA. Responsibilities As a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer, you will support the SESS team with various cybersecurity assessments and design tasks on cyber physical, logical, and embedded devices. The work location is San Diego, CA, with minimal travel expected. Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform system security analysis, decomposition, and impact assessments focusing on vulnerabilities of ground- and space-based cyber physical, logical, and embedded systems across different domains and missions. Apply cybersecurity frameworks such as RMF to develop, assess, and authorize secure technical solutions. Develop and review cybersecurity documentation to support program management and acquisition milestones. Conduct operational and data flow analyses for vulnerability assessments. Verify and validate system interfaces and sub-components of cyber-physical and embedded systems. Experiment with attack techniques and develop mitigations to enhance system security. Communicate findings effectively through oral presentations and written reports. Utilize core engineering skills to address client and stakeholder challenges. Create analysis tools to support cybersecurity efforts. Lead small client engagements, assisting with requirements, project execution, and reporting. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in cyber offense/defense, reverse engineering, or cyber risk assessment. Experience assessing NIST SP 800-53 controls. Experience with space, aeronautical, aerospace, maritime, or terrestrial cyber-physical systems. Ability to articulate risk to technical and non-technical audiences. Proven track record of developing mitigations for security challenges. Experience with security controls on Linux servers, including RHEL. Desired Qualifications Experience with cryptographic hardware for ground and space systems, including certifications and stakeholder collaboration. Contributions to DoD Program Protection Plans, Security Classification Guides, Cybersecurity Strategies, and Anti-Tamper Plans. Experience in reverse engineering hardware or software. Certifications At least one of the following is required: CISSP (Desired), CISM, CCNA, MCSE, CCSP, AWS Solutions Architect, OSCP, GPEN, Security+, CEH. Education Bachelor's degree in IT or Engineering-related fields such as cybersecurity, computer science, or computer engineering. Clearance Active DoD Secret clearance required to start.
