The

Senior Network Engineer

provides subject matter expertise (SME), mentorship, and operational support for the technologies that comprise the customer’s IT networking enterprise architecture as part of the Networking and Communications Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team. The role involves designing, deploying, and ensuring the efficient operation of enterprise and data center network environments across global remote and data center sites. Responsibilities Translate stakeholder and government requirements into network solutions, modifications, and support upgrades, including hardware and software acquisition, installation, and testing. Support and oversee the Networking team’s O&M operations for solutions backed by Cisco, Juniper, Riverbed, and SolarWinds. Act as the highest escalation point for troubleshooting and problem resolution, including root cause analysis. Maintain documentation of network systems, sub-systems, and components, including as-built documentation and capacity/performance plans. Collaborate with the IT Architecture and Engineering team to explore and assess new technologies for network modernization. Travel approximately 15% annually. Requirements TS/SCI Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph. Associate degree or relevant certifications such as Security+ CE, GSEC, or SSCP. Cisco Certified Networks Professional (CCNP) Data Center certification. 7+ years of experience in designing, engineering, and implementing enterprise-grade network solutions across multiple platforms. 7+ years working with Cisco hardware, operating systems, and technologies, including 5+ years with enterprise-level Routing and Switching technologies. 5+ years in network traffic analysis, management, topology design, security, and high availability architectures. Experience with secure encrypted devices and communication circuits. Experience with network security technologies such as Next Generation Firewalls and ACLs. Knowledge of U.S. Government IA and Security standards, including DISA SRGs and STIGs. Proven leadership in managing dispersed teams and troubleshooting complex network issues. Proactive monitoring and optimization of network systems. Meet the Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Network Operations Specialist (441) at an intermediate level. Desired Skills CCNP Routing and Switch, CCNP Collaboration, CCNP Security certifications. Additional enterprise technologies certifications, e.g., Juniper, Riverbed. Deep understanding of Cisco data center and LAN/WAN networking solutions. Experience with Cisco ASA, Riverbed Steelhead, Juniper Firewalls, Cisco CUCM, TMS, VCS, and configuration management tools like SolarWinds NCM. Mentorship and training experience for junior team members. Experience with Cisco Data Center technologies such as DCNM and ACI supporting SDN and SDDC.
