JOB DESCRIPTION: Support manufacturing and engineering departments by manufacturing various production and prototype components, fixtures, and tools. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Machine complex tooling and fixtures working with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering Perform secondary operations on production units by using manual multi axis millers and lathes, manual drill presses, shears, saws, etc. Set-up and run manual machine shop equipment including multi axis millers and lathes, manual drill presses, shears, saws, etc. Set-up and operate surface grinding machines. Work from drawings, prints, and / or work instructions. Develop, fabricate, and sharpen various cutting tools and specialty tools. Inspect GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) features using basic and advanced inspection techniques. Cut open welded units to complete production operations. Assist shop management in training shop employees in common machine shop practices and company specific processes and procedures. All other duties as assigned. REQUIRED (BASIC) QUALIFICATIONS: High mechanical aptitude Knows how to read blueprints Proficiency in trigonometry Working knowledge of computers. Understand the mechanics of chip formation and metal cutting. Knowledge of ANSI/EIA RS – 274 (“G” code NC programs) High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution 3+ years’ experience in trade as a tool maker. Experience or formal education in design/drafting with emphasis on CAD Resides within a reasonable commuting distance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: AS in technical field.
