Please read the following job description thoroughly to ensure you are the right fit for this role before applying.
Do you have a passion for the convergence of technology and business? Have you worked with APIs? Our client is seeking API Product Managers to help build the bridge between business and technology teams for API Developer Platform projects. At our client, we treat APIs as products. Our API Product Managers create APIs, influence the product life cycle, and evangelize our API-as-a-Product culture. As a candidate, you deeply understand the developer persona and ensure API products are easy to implement, well documented, and designed to our high standards. You also understand RESTful concepts, JSON structure, and API architecture principles. In addition to technical and product knowledge, you have an exceptional drive for organization and details. You’re proficient in managing daily team events and organizing team communication using a variety of toolsets such as Confluence, MS Teams, SharePoint, etc. And finally, you’re a doer—you’re not afraid to jump into complex financial service systems and tools to analyze workflow, understand architecture, document business requirements, and propose solutions.
About the Team The Enterprise API Developer Platform team at our client contributes significantly to enabling our customer-focused experience through product management, enterprise governance, standardized customer experience, and developer portal properties. We combine all those to extend the reach of lines of business and innovation to bank partners.
Responsibilities Translate business requirements into user stories and API specifications using Swagger framework. Serve as the bridge between Line of Business partners and Engineering teams to ensure alignment on shared goals. Work with internal and external partners to create and validate business-critical use cases. Help establish OKRs and own development outcomes. Create and manage user personas and brainstorm new API ideas. Help develop product charters to provide an understanding and vision for the API offering. Manage the API backlog, prioritize feature requests, bug fixes, and new initiatives based on data and user feedback. Collaborate with other teams including other enterprise platforms, engineering, architecture, and UX. Participate in Scrum ceremonies including daily standup, planning, grooming, and Quarterly Planning sessions. Oversee the development process, ensuring APIs adhere to established standards, naming conventions, and design principles. Review API design with Sr. Product Manager, API engineering team, QA, Compliance, and other impacted teams. Ensure APIs adhere to established standards, security protocols, naming conventions, and design principles. Track API performance, identify areas for improvement, and work with engineering teams to ensure APIs remain scalable and reliable. Apply product management, industry, and market expertise to brainstorm and create additional use cases for the API. Participate with business lines and marketing team to develop a marketing plan for the API. Work with the QA team for test case creation and ensure all critical use cases are accounted for. Own all API documentation including documents for developer support, security, sales, sales training, and marketing. Help set up and run Hackathons. Participate in API monetization strategy if required.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 2+ years’ experience working with APIs.
