Plastic Injection Molding / Thermoplastics Manufacturing

Position Overview The
EHS Specialist
will lead and coordinate all
Environmental, Health, and Safety programs
in compliance with
OSHA ,
MIOSHA ,
EPA , and other applicable regulations. This role is critical in
driving a proactive safety culture , reducing workplace incidents, and ensuring environmental sustainability across all manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain
EHS policies, procedures, and programs aligned with regulatory requirements and company standards. Conduct
regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk analyses
to identify and mitigate potential hazards in
plastic molding, extrusion, and secondary operations . Lead
incident investigations , document findings, and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented. Coordinate and maintain compliance with
OSHA/MIOSHA standards ,
EPA regulations , and
ISO 14001 / ISO 45001
requirements. Manage
employee training programs
on safety protocols, chemical handling, lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE use, forklift safety, and emergency response. Track and analyze
safety metrics , near-miss reports, and environmental performance data to drive continuous improvement. Oversee
hazardous waste management , air quality compliance, stormwater protection, and other environmental initiatives. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure
machine guarding , ergonomic improvements, and safe operating procedures are in place. Serve as the
primary contact
for regulatory agencies and auditors.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in
Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene , or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered). 3+ years
of EHS experience in a
manufacturing environment , preferably in
plastics, injection molding, or polymer processing . Strong knowledge of
OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA , and environmental health & safety best practices. Hands-on experience with
hazard communication (HAZCOM) ,
LOTO ,
confined space entry , and
chemical safety programs . Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
and EHS reporting software. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) ,
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) , or
OSHA 30-hour training
is a plus.
