This role involves representing a diverse range of clients, including insurers, employers, and claims administrators, throughout all stages of workers’ compensation proceedings. The position is primarily office-based in Columbia, SC, but consideration will be given to qualified candidates residing elsewhere within South Carolina. Duties: Represent clients in workers' compensation matters, including hearings, depositions, mediations, and appeals Handle a full litigation caseload from initiation through resolution Draft pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence Participate in discovery, including depositions of parties and expert witnesses Provide strategic advice and case evaluations to clients Coordinate with third-party administrators and employer representatives Negotiate settlements and manage subrogation-related issues Requirements: Active and good standing membership with the South Carolina Bar Demonstrated experience in workers’ compensation litigation Familiarity with procedural rules and case law specific to South Carolina Proven ability to manage time and deadlines across a caseload Comfortable leveraging legal technology and case management systems High attention to detail and organizational capabilities Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Certifications: Admission to practice in South Carolina (mandatory) Skills: Strong legal analysis and problem-solving capabilities Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Strategic thinker with the ability to identify issues beyond workers’ compensation law Client-focused mindset and professional demeanor Self-sufficient with a team-oriented approach Job Location: Columbia, SC (remote work considered for SC residents) 401(k) retirement plan with matching contributions Life insurance is provided at no cost Short-term and long-term disability coverage included Remote work flexibility is available Paid membership in legal professional organizations Opportunities for career growth and internal advancement Supportive, collaborative work environment Marketing and business development resources available Company info
