Job Duties
- Lead the design and development of spacecraft power systems, including power generation, energy storage, conversion, and distribution.
- Perform electrical architecture trade studies to optimize spacecraft power flow, efficiency, and redundancy.
- Develop and maintain detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, and interface definitions.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and qualification of spacecraft electrical subsystems for extreme space environments.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with spacecraft avionics, propulsion, and thermal subsystems.
- Conduct fault analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for electrical anomalies.
- Manage component selection, vendor relationships, and procurement to meet mission requirements and budget constraints.
- Support mission readiness activities, including design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and test readiness reviews.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable aerospace industry standards and environmental requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master's or PhD preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in spacecraft or satellite electrical system design, with a focus on power systems.
- Proven track record in designing batteries, solar arrays, power conversion, and distribution systems for space applications.
- Experience leading electrical design from concept through manufacturing and launch.
- Proficiency in electrical analysis tools, simulation software, and CAD for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Familiarity with NASA/DoD development lifecycles and milestone reviews.
- Strong knowledge of high-reliability aerospace components and derating guidelines.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, startup environment with shifting priorities.
- Hands-on spacecraft integration and test experience.
- Experience with deep-space or high-radiation power systems.
- Knowledge of space industry standards such as ECSS, IPC, and MIL-STD.
- Prior involvement in technology maturation from TRL 4-9.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for on-orbit anomalies and ground test failures.
