nKey Responsibilities:
nSushi Chef:
nPrepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty rolls with consistency and precision.
nEnsure all ingredients are fresh and of high quality.
nMaintain proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
nCreate visually appealing presentations for all dishes.
nAssist in inventory management and ordering of supplies.
nTrain and supervise junior kitchen staff or assistants.
nCollaborate with management to develop seasonal or new menu items.
nMaintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
nSushi Assistant:
nSupport the sushi chef in preparing ingredients (cutting fish, cooking rice, prepping vegetables).
nLearn proper sushi techniques under the guidance of the sushi chef.
nKeep the sushi bar clean and organized.
nMonitor stock levels and communicate with the chef when items need to be replenished.
nAssist with plating and garnishing as directed.
nEnsure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
nQualifications:
nFor Sushi Chef:
nProven experience as a sushi chef or in a similar role.
nDeep understanding of sushi preparation, knife skills, and fish handling.
nStrong attention to detail and artistic presentation.
nKnowledge of Japanese cuisine and culinary trends.
nAbility to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
nFor Sushi Assistant:
nSome kitchen or food prep experience preferred but not required.
nWillingness to learn and take direction.
nGood communication and teamwork skills.
nBasic understanding of hygiene and food safety practices.
nWorking Conditions:
nFast-paced restaurant or kitchen environment.
nMust be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
nMay require evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
