Key Responsibilities:

Sushi Chef:

n

Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty rolls with consistency and precision.

n

Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of high quality.

n

Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.

n

Create visually appealing presentations for all dishes.

n

Assist in inventory management and ordering of supplies.

n

Train and supervise junior kitchen staff or assistants.

n

Collaborate with management to develop seasonal or new menu items.

n

Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.

n

Sushi Assistant:

n

Support the sushi chef in preparing ingredients (cutting fish, cooking rice, prepping vegetables).

n

Learn proper sushi techniques under the guidance of the sushi chef.

n

Keep the sushi bar clean and organized.

n

Monitor stock levels and communicate with the chef when items need to be replenished.

n

Assist with plating and garnishing as directed.

n

Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

n

Qualifications:

n

For Sushi Chef:

n

Proven experience as a sushi chef or in a similar role.

n

Deep understanding of sushi preparation, knife skills, and fish handling.

n

Strong attention to detail and artistic presentation.

n

Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and culinary trends.

n

Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.

n

For Sushi Assistant:

n

Some kitchen or food prep experience preferred but not required.

n

Willingness to learn and take direction.

n

Good communication and teamwork skills.

n

Basic understanding of hygiene and food safety practices.

n

Working Conditions:

n

Fast-paced restaurant or kitchen environment.

n

Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

n

May require evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
