Position Summary/ Department Summary:
20 hours a week (two, 10.5 hour days a week)
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for supporting patients and families in our high acuity Medical and Surgical Intensive Care (MSICU) units. We are looking for an experienced CCLS to participate in therapeutic activities to support patients and their families when facing trauma/grief, complicated diagnosis and highly acute medical situations. Working with a team of other Child Life Specialists, together the team will responsible for facilitating coping, preparation and education related to the hospital experience. Key Responsibilities: The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life. 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist. Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
