Seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician for our client, a leader in the chemicals industry. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for independently preparing formulations/samples, conducting analytical testing, and making adjustments in accordance with established protocols.
Type: Contract
Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift, Rotating Weekends.
Pay: Dependent on experience
Location: Harris County, TX
Duties:
- Plan, execute, and complete laboratory projects from initiation to conclusion with minimal guidance, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory notebooks, perform data entry, and generate graphs or charts as needed.
- Prepare thorough laboratory reports and retain all necessary documentation for review with limited support.
- Carry out routine operational tasks to ensure the laboratory remains fully functional, including equipment calibrations, supply replenishment, chemical inventory management, and shipping activities.
- Utilize a variety of analytical instruments and techniques, including -
- Chromatography: Gas Chromatography (GC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ion Chromatography (IC), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)
- Titration: Karl Fischer water determination, amine number, acid number, hydroxyl number, pH, sodium sulfite, ethylene glycol
- Viscosity Measurement: Brookfield, Ubbelohde
- Spectroscopy & Analysis: UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Spectrocolorimeter, Total Organic Carbon Analyzer
- Other Tests: Cloud Point analysis
Qualifications:
- Degree in a STEM field preferred
- Relevant experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in the chemical or related industry.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and record keeping.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
