A manufacturing client in Waukesha is looking for a Buyer to join their team! This role is direct hire and onsite 5 days a week. This Buyer will conduct transactions for the procurement of manufacturing materials, tools, supplies, and services for our client in accordance with approved requisitions and procedures. We are looking for someone who is quite experienced in SAP and can hit the ground running!
What You'll Do:
- Review requisitions for materials within ERP system and then analyze each item for quantity, specifications and delivery requirements.
- Develop and investigate sources to then issue requests for quotations for those items not covered by existing arrangements.
- Interact with subcontractors to purchase fabricated, machined and welded components.
- Identify alternate sourcing if needed, based on quality, price and delivery
- Contact potential suppliers and negotiates quotes on most favorable terms
- Use technical drawings to discusses technical requirements with vendors such as dimensions, tolerances, finishes and other aspects of manufacturing
- Determine best source by evaluating quotation or by application of an existing arrangement or by approved procedures, interview vendor representatives, produce purchase orders within prescribed dollar limits ($15,000), negotiate the lowest possible cost balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
- Perform follow-up work on orders to ensure vendor compliance with terms of purchase, especially delivery dates and quantity/quality; resolves invoice discrepancies
- Participate in supplier visits and audits to qualify vendors
- Evaluate vendor performance based on personal knowledge of quality, prices, service and delivery, as well as feedback from Production, Receiving and Engineering
- Maintain procurement records.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Must Haves:
- At least 3 years of purchasing experience of manufactured or fabricated, machined or welded parts or assemblies, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Mastery of MS Office
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the use of resource planning database software (SAP)
- Ability to synthesize data from manufacturing requisitions and procure the materials needed at price/quality standards in the shortest time frame.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding technical specifications of parts and sub-assemblies.
- Close attention to detail to update and manage resource planning database.
- Ability to research, negotiate and communicate with suppliers and end users.
- Ability to interact successfully with members of Sales, Engineering, Production and Shipping/Receiving groups to resolve problems.
Salary of $70-90K annually based on education and experience level
