Confidant Recruiting, Inc.
A fast-growing, founder-led digital marketing agency is hiring its first internal HR partner. This part-time, onsite role will take day-to-day HR operations off the owner’s plate, build structure, and keep the team compliant as they scale. The position is expected to grow into full-time as the company continues to expand.
HR Generalist Responsibilities
- Payroll & Timekeeping
- Run semi-monthly payroll in ADP RUN (data entry, audits, approvals).
- Enforce accurate clock-in/clock-out; follow up on exceptions and apply consequences per policy.
- Maintain compliant employee records (I-9s, W-4s, personnel files).
- Own annual handbook updates and policy rollouts; ensure CA wage/hour compliance.
- Assign and track California sexual-harassment training; keep certificates on file.
- Lead onboarding and offboarding checklists (accounts, equipment, forms, orientation).
- Serve as a confidential point of contact for employee concerns; escalate as needed.
- Prepare corrective actions and written warnings; coordinate terminations in partnership with leadership.
- Schedule and deliver in-person trainings (1–2 per month) on policies, culture, and people practices.
- Administer ADP time tracking and PTO workflows.
- Utilize ADP’s HR resources (templates, compliance updates, background/credit checks) and manage screenings for all new hires.
- Recommend simple HRIS/process improvements as we grow.
HR Generalist Requirements
- 3+ years in an HR Generalist or advanced HR Coordinator role supporting California employees.
- Hands-on payroll experience (ADP RUN strongly preferred).
- Working knowledge of CA wage & hour, meal/rest rules, leaves, and required trainings.
- Comfortable drafting policies, issuing corrective actions, and partnering on terminations.
- Nice to have: experience in small, founder-led companies that scaled as you worked there.
