CLA is currently seeking an Accounting Associate to join our Spoke CAAS (Nonprofit Industry) group in our West Hartford, CT or Shelton, CT office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Client Service: Aid in understanding each client's business/organization operations. Assist in managing multiple clients, software, and chart of accounts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Day-to-Day Transactions: Assist in processing accounts payable, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and posting/recording payroll transactions.
  • Month-End Processing: Prepare and review account reconciliations of moderate to entry-level complex work (e.g., prepaids, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accruals). Support preparation of complex account reconciliations (investments, debt, industry-specific, etc.). Review financial statements (basic to moderate). Prepare general ledger, cash flow, allocations, etc. Create process and procedure documentation and build backup at leadership's direction.
  • Other Quarterly/Annual Processing: Assist in completing sales tax returns, Form 1099s, preparing audit workpapers, tax return workpapers, and other client-requested items.

Job Requirements:

  • Accounting and financial experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; a combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.

The wage range for this position in Connecticut is: $64,000 - 96,000. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact the actual pay within this range.
