Communications Engineering Project Manager (6-Month Contract)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Communications Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of communications infrastructure projects for a major utilities provider in San Antonio. This 6-month contract role will focus on managing the design, implementation, and integration of communications systems that support power generation and distribution operations. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership Plan, execute, and oversee communications engineering projects from initiation to closeout. Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery. Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to meet technical and operational goals. Technical Oversight Supervise the deployment of communications systems including SCADA, fiber optics, microwave, and radio networks. Ensure systems are designed and implemented in compliance with utility standards and regulatory requirements. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Stakeholder Engagement Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, operations, IT, and external partners. Provide regular project updates to leadership and ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues and maintain project momentum. Risk & Compliance Management Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards. Support permitting and inspection processes as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field. PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing communications or utility infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of utility-grade communications systems and protocols. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). Preferred Experience: Experience working with public utilities or municipal energy providers.
