Summary Regal Boats is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive FRP Quality Inspector to join our Lamination (LAM) Department. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) parts and assemblies to ensure they meet Regal's quality and safety standards. You will play a vital part in supporting production teams by identifying defects early, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and maintaining the high standards that define our brand.

Work Environment Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature, reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times. You must be able to work in an environment where dust, fiberglass, and other manufacturing materials are present.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb into and out of the boats using stairs. The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10-hour days with most of the time being on their feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.

- Conduct in-process and final inspections of FRP components, hulls, decks, and structural parts throughout the lamination process.
- Evaluate parts for voids, delamination, dry areas, cracking, thickness irregularities, and other quality concerns.
- Verify compliance with work instructions, layup schedules, part drawings, and company quality standards.
- Use visual inspection, tap testing, and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to assess part quality.
- Identify and document non-conformances; work with supervisors to resolve quality issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and reports in alignment with company protocols.
- Collaborate with lamination technicians to promote consistent quality and workmanship.
- Assist with internal audits and support training for proper FRP layup and repair practices.
- Support continuous improvement by suggesting process and material changes to reduce defects.
- Knowledge of FRP materials, layup techniques, and common lamination defects.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, layup schedules, and specifications.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and performing visual/tactile inspections.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Physically able to enter hulls, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods.
- Previous experience in FRP or composite quality inspection in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with marine-grade fiberglass materials and resin systems.
- Working knowledge of quality control methodologies (5S, root cause analysis, etc.).
- Technical training or certification in composites or manufacturing quality is a plus.
- Clear and professional communication skills for reporting and documentation.
