Description Position: Senior IT Manager – SAP ERP Implementation Location: On-site or Hybrid (Travel required to U.S. manufacturing and corporate sites) Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire Lead Enterprise Transformation as a Senior IT Manager Are you a senior IT leader with a track record of driving complex ERP transformations? As a Senior IT Manager with APS, you’ll be embedded in a major SAP implementation program at a leading passenger railcar manufacturing company. Your mission: lead the consolidation of disparate systems and tools into a unified SAP platform that will standardize, streamline, and elevate operations across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and HR. Role Summary The Senior IT Manager will play a central role in managing the successful implementation of SAP S/4HANA across the enterprise. You’ll lead cross-functional alignment, ensure system readiness, and help architect a long-term IT infrastructure that eliminates legacy redundancies and supports operational scale. This role requires both strategic oversight and tactical leadership across planning, integration, testing, change management, and stakeholder communication. Key Responsibilities Lead the full lifecycle of SAP ERP implementation, including design, configuration, testing, data migration, and go-live Coordinate with business process owners to align SAP functionality with operational needs across departments (manufacturing, engineering, procurement, finance, HR, etc.) Manage project timelines, risk registers, resource plans, and third-party vendors Direct internal and external SAP implementation teams, ensuring clear accountability and deliverables Oversee the decommissioning of legacy systems and lead data mapping/conversion efforts Establish and monitor KPIs to track ERP performance, adoption, and system stability post-go-live Develop and execute change management and training programs across departments Ensure security, compliance, and IT governance policies are embedded in SAP architecture Serve as the primary point of contact between executive leadership, IT, and implementation partners Provide ongoing support and optimization strategies post-implementation Qualifications Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or Business (Master’s preferred) 10–15 years of IT experience with 5+ years in enterprise ERP leadership roles Proven success in implementing SAP S/4HANA or equivalent large-scale ERP systems in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of business process mapping, systems integration, and master data governance Experience managing cross-functional teams and third-party ERP vendors or consultants Deep knowledge of discrete manufacturing operations (BOMs, MRP, supply chain, work orders) Familiarity with IT project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) Exceptional communication and leadership skills across technical and non-technical audiences Nice to Have SAP certification(s) in functional areas (MM, PP, SD, FICO, etc.) Experience in rail, transportation, or regulated manufacturing industries Background in post-merger IT integration or large-scale system rationalization projects Familiarity with industrial IoT, MES integration, or digital thread concepts PMP or comparable project management certification What You Can Expect Executive-level visibility and influence in a high-impact transformation program Competitive salary and bonus structure based on experience and role scope Full benefits available to eligible employees (medical, dental, vision, etc.) Long-term career growth opportunities in digital strategy and enterprise systems leadership Support from APS technical and program leadership throughout the engagement Seniority level Seniority level Director Employment type Employment type Contract Job function Job function Information Technology Industries Staffing and Recruiting Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Amass by 2x Get notified about new Information Technology Manager jobs in Salt Lake City, UT .
