As a member of the University and DCFS Office of the Inspector General (OIG), this position assists with and conducts investigations on issues in child welfare. Specifically, highly confidential investigations of child welfare involvement in the cases of death and serious physical injury, where DCFS has had involvement with the child or family in the year prior. This includes systemic issues as well as allegations and incidents of misconduct, misfeasance and malfeasance. Provides an analysis of practices and policies as they relate to the findings in OIG investigations. Provides response and recommendations for development and delivery of curricula for remediation and training initiatives with emphasis on this in-depth extensive analysis. Assists in the implementation of other project initiatives. Duties & Responsibilities
Perform highly confidential investigations of child welfare involvement in the cases of death and serious physical injury, where DCFS has had involvement with the child or family in the year prior. This includes systemic issues. Perform the general investigations of allegations and incidents of misconduct, misfeasance, and malfeasance. Collaborate in drafting investigative reports. Assist the Director of Child Death and Serious Injury Investigations in reviewing the deaths and serious injuries reported to State Central Register and Child Death Review Teams. Assign to investigators for evaluation of full investigation or closing summaries. Assist and complete investigations that have implications for ongoing and future Error Reduction training. Complete closing summaries on death cases that, after an investigatory records review, have been determined not to require full investigation. Participate in writing and preparing the Annual Report to the Governor and General Assembly. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
1. A minimum of a Master's degree in social services, political sciences, business, or law 2. A minimum of three years' professional experience in child welfare or a related field Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
