Senior Director Of RCM Consulting
The Senior Director of RCM Consulting is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Consulting and Auditing divisions. This individual plays a key role in developing high-level client relationships, driving revenue cycle strategy and optimization for clinical laboratory and pathology clients, and serving as a strategic advisor to internal and external stakeholders. This role provides vision and direction across a cross-functional team of Auditors and RCM Client Managers and collaborates with Sales and executive leadership to expand services, improve client experience, and enhance client retention. Essential Functions & Basic Duties Provide strategic leadership to the RCM Consulting department, including direct oversight of RCM-Client Managers and Director of Auditing
handling all administration, recruitment, and performance management. Build, implement, and refine internal processes, SOPs, and workflows that align with department goals and client needs. Lead performance management and training efforts to ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous team growth. Oversee departmental KPIs, resourcing, and client engagement assignments, including onboarding and ongoing support. Maintain a product/service feedback loop to inform process improvements and internal service development. Client Strategy & Consulting Serve as the lead consultant for client engagements, guiding strategic conversations from startup/scoping calls to executive wrap-ups. Act as an escalation point and senior problem solver for client issues, at times through on-site visits. Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders, including C-level executives, CFOs, and financial leadership. Provide expert consulting on RCM challenges including denials, reimbursement policy, medical necessity audits, and revenue optimization. Identify opportunities to deliver incremental client value and expand the service footprint in collaboration with Sales. Support payor contracting strategy, including negotiations, rate analysis, and tactics to improve client reimbursement. Clearly communicate company's service offerings and differentiate clinical lab vs. pathology workflows when guiding clients. Operational Excellence & Execution Lead the development of policies, procedures, and best practices that optimize customer satisfaction, communication, and accountability. Oversee and improve workflows related to client operations, RCM processes, and LIS/system integration. Facilitate collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to identify areas of improvement in service delivery and client outcomes. Monitor active client engagement projects, assess performance, and guide teams in identifying and implementing timely solutions. Perform and oversee data analysis to identify trends, risks, and performance gaps, recommending actionable insights and strategies. Establish and nurture preferred vendor relationships to support clients' needs beyond company service scope. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all company policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations. Available to travel overnight up to 10% of the time and work occasional weekends to meet client and project needs. Minimum Qualification Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Master's degree is preferred. Experience Minimum of 10 years in healthcare billing and revenue cycle management with expertise in laboratory/pathology billing. At least 5 years of client-facing consulting experience, with a strong emphasis on strategy, stakeholder management, and communication. 3+ years of leadership or management experience, preferably with cross-functional teams.
