GIS Technologist
As a GIS Technologist, you will support the operation and maintenance of the company's GIS application by maintaining, reporting, and posting work, or by gathering data to be input by others. This role is the entry level in the classification series, where you are expected to work both independently and as part of a team under close-to-moderate supervision, while developing and advancing your skills. Responsibilities
Apply technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems in your area of expertise. Ensure the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective time and work management. Understand and interpret complex design drawings, property plats, maps, and other related information necessary to post data in the Company GIS system. Generate and maintain GIS-generated operations maps. Conduct GIS and related studies. Strive to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance. Perform work of a higher classification when preparing for advancement. Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Maintain accurate records and files. Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally. Complete tasks including manipulating GIS data, updating attributes in SmallWorld, updating/completing work orders in Maximo, and conducting data collection and analysis. Essential Skills
Proficiency in ArcGIS, GIS, data management, mapping, and data entry. Beginning level knowledge in understanding and interpreting complex design drawings, property plats, and maps. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in SmallWorld is preferred. Experience in the utility industry is an advantage. Completion of 30 hours in a GIS program at an accredited university, enrollment in a GIS certification program, or 2 years of applicable work experience. Completion of 60 hours in a GIS program plus 2 years of experience, or completion of a GIS certification program plus 2 years of experience, or 4 years of applicable work experience. Work Environment
The work environment involves the use of GIS technologies and software, including ArcGIS and SmallWorld. The position may require coordination with various departments and effective communication to accomplish tasks and projects efficiently. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
