Legal Administrative Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Legal Administrative Assistant to support a busy immigration law practice specializing in humanitarian and asylum-based removal defense. This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with legal professionals and clients while making a tangible impact on individuals and families navigating complex legal processes. Key Responsibilities: Provide administrative and organizational support to ensure smooth operations, including organizing and managing casefiles, notes, and records that may require restructuring or reorganization to improve accessibility. Assist in preparing attorneys and clients for hearings, including scheduling, filing deadlines, and preparation for court appearances ranging from basic hearings to full merits hearings. Monitor and manage the specific needs of 65-70 individual/household clients, some with families involved in a single case, ensuring timelines, deadlines, and communication are effectively handled. Proactively identify potential blind spots and areas for improvement within office workflows and case management to help attorneys forecast and address challenges. Support client interactions, including liaising with predominantly vulnerable populations under humanitarian defense. Collaborate with a small but dedicated team to ensure seamless communication and workflow. Requirements: Experience working in legal settings, especially in immigration or removal defense, is highly preferred. Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance competing priorities. Experience with court filing processes, case preparation, and assisting attorneys in client hearings. Language skills in Spanish are beneficial, given the nature of the clientele. Flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity, merging remote support with necessary in-person collaboration. If you have a passion for organizational excellence, experience in legal administration, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives, we encourage you to apply! Requirements - A minimum of 2 years of experience as an immigration paralegal, with a focus on family-based immigration and removal defense. Proficiency in drafting legal documents and preparing materials for hearings and trials. Familiarity with case management software and tools used in legal practices. Strong knowledge of immigration law, including visa petitions and asylum processes. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively. Ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with clients from diverse backgrounds. Experience supporting litigation efforts, including discovery and trial preparation. Detail-oriented with the ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis.
