The investigator conducts priority and routine investigations, audits and inspections relating to violation of Florida Statutes and rules governed by the Agency. The investigator must provide investigative results through the collection of evidence and preparation of quality investigative reports. Responsibilities include: Investigating complaints of alleged violations of Florida Statutes and Board Rules involving professions under the jurisdiction of the Department. Interviewing source, subject, and appropriate witnesses. Reviewing court records and other essential documents, conducting audits and inspections, preparing and serving subpoenas, administrative complaints, notices to cease and desist and issuing citations. Preparing comprehensive chronological reports of final, supplemental and probation reports within the guidelines of ISU's quality control matrix. Serving as field training officer when necessary. Conducting supplemental and probation investigations including coordination with impairment program staff. Enforcing terms of Disciplinary Enforcement Requests and cooperating with Board staff members. Engaging in proactive enforcement programs individually and in cooperation with other government agencies. Demonstrating good public relations with local authorities and professional organizations through personal contact and public speaking engagements. Providing information to consumers regarding licensure and possible violations of laws and rules regulating professions under the Department's jurisdiction. Testifying and/or presenting evidence at administrative hearings, depositions, or trials. Performing other duties as required. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of computer data bases; knowledge and use of the compliance management system and licensing system used by the Agency; knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures and government rules & regulations; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar; understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents; communicating effectively with others verbally and in writing; talking to others to effectively convey information; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate; conduct fact-finding research; knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis; organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials; knowing how to find information and identifying essential information; finding ways to structure or classify multiple pieces of information; write detailed narrative investigative reports; ability to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments; ability to work independently; investigating and researching; inspecting and evaluating the quality of products; ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail; effectively manage time; make sound judgements; ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Preferred qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent; and Four (4) years of professional experience from one or more of the following fields: investigative, law enforcement, working in the juvenile or adult criminal justice system, regulatory inspections, regulatory compliance, resource protection, affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, regulatory work as a paraprofessional or higher, claims adjusting, auditing, financial examining, land appraisal work, land use planning or consulting, social work, human relations, personnel, or working as a licensed healthcare professional regulated by the Division of Medical Quality Assurance. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study may substitute for required professional experience. Must have a valid driver's license, satisfactorily complete a background investigation, fingerprinting, and participation in direct deposit are requirements for employment.
