Court Interpreter Position

New Jersey Courts is seeking a dedicated professional to work as a Court Interpreter in Camden, NJ. This full-time position is part of the General Operations Division in the Camden Vicinage. The salary range for Court Interpreter 1 is $69,504.36 to $98,696.16 for Schedule A, and $69,504.36 to $93,761.36 for Schedule B. The salary range for Court Interpreter 2 is $73,674.60 to $111,206.94 for Schedule A, and $73,674.60 to $105,646.59 for Schedule B. The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. The Camden Vicinage is seeking a detailed oriented professional to work as a Court Interpreter. Under the direction of the General Operations Division Manager and other supervisory personnel, the successful candidate must be able to interpret in the three modes of interpretation (sight, consecutive, and simultaneous), in court and virtual proceedings, quasi-judicial hearings, complimentary dispute resolution events, weddings, and other court related events in person or via a telecommunication device. The qualified candidate will be able to produce translations, either in draft or in final form, of documents such as official forms, public signs, notices, posters, form, letters, and correspondence. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting and entering data into automated recordkeeping systems, participating in study and training activities in a group or individually in order to develop and maintain interpreting and translating skills. Eligible applicants are court interpreters approved by the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). AOC approved interpreters include interpreters who have passed the written and performance oral exams of the National Center for State Courts administered by the AOC or an equivalent test administered by a member state of the Council of Language Access Coordinators; or who possess the Court Interpreter Certification from the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
