About the Consultant Position Consultants (Cs) play an important role on project teams at Bridgespan working on addressing clients' strategic issues through gathering powerful data, analyses, and generating recommendations that enable them to increase their impact. As members of case teams, Cs develop independent work plans and take ownership of significant portions of client work. To facilitate the development of strong client relationships, Cs are often partnered with members of the client team and it is expected that they will quickly assume team and client leadership responsibilities. Once fully onboarded, Cs will follow our 50-50 staffing model, meaning they will work on two projects at a time with different teams. Cs enter as generalists, projects range considerably in topic and client profile, making it ideal for candidates who are enthusiastic about exploring the full range of work we do. Topics range considerably from education to public health to criminal justice, and much more. Our client portfolio includes philanthropists or philanthropic institutions; nonprofits or movements; and impact investors. Cs will also have an opportunity to engage in research and writing projects so that leaders everywhere can benefit from the insights Bridgespan gleans in its work. Responsibilities and Duties Plan and manage work modules that address core strategic issues for clients Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis Gather data through interviews and secondary research Generate creative, action-oriented insights and recommendations Facilitate joint problem-solving sessions with mid-level and senior-level clients Write and deliver high-impact presentations and plans Work with clients to implement recommendations Contribute to Bridgespan's knowledge capture, creation, and dissemination Take on lead roles to support internal office culture and team building activities Be prepared to work 50-55 hours per week, on average, with variation week to week in response to client needs Travel required may be 1-2 times a month on average depending on client work While most of the training is on the job, Cs attend formalized training sessions throughout their career at Bridgespan, beginning with an extensive orientation program. As the C progresses, there are training programs that focus on developing deeper consulting skills. Bridgespan Cs also participate in training programs with Bain Cs from around the world. Bridgespan helps each Consultant build a successful career: cracking tough problems, communicating solutions with clients and teams, and collaborating across levels including with Associate Consultant and Managers. Qualifications MBA, MPP, MPA and at least three years pre-graduate school professional experience are required. We will also consider candidates with three years of experience in a leading strategy consulting firm. Excellent analytical skills, creativity in problem-solving, and a keen business sense demonstrated in a professional environment Ability to apply an equity lens in project analysis Excellent communication skills
both written and verbal Well-rounded interpersonal skills demonstrating the capacity to build strong senior client relationships, and facilitate joint problem solving with clients and a team Highly self-motivated Strong commitment to teamwork and willingness to proactively take on leadership roles within project teams and the firm Commitment to the social sector Hybrid work requirements Consultants are required to relocate to their home office city given the apprenticeship model in our consulting work. Consultants are required to work from their home Bridgespan office at least 2 days per week.
