Orthopedic Surgeon Position

Position Summary:

Responsible for treatment and repair musculoskeletal system injuries or illnesses surgically or therapeutically. Responsible for setting bones with casts, splints, pins, or braces. Their duties also include correcting defects to the musculoskeletal system and diagnosing illnesses or injuries to ligaments, joints, and bones. Duties & Responsibilities: Participates in the development, execution and periodic review of written policies governing the services of the RHC and Hospital and Hospital Medical Staff. Provides services in accordance with those policies. Uses EMR/CPOE in a timely manner for all patient related actions. Dress in a professional manner. Display good interpersonal skills with patients and families as well as staff members. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Comply with the standards set forth for the Surgeon Provider designation. Maintain necessary accreditation on required certifications. Attend bi-monthly Medical Staff meetings. Demonstrate appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics. Perform other duties as assigned by Administration in accordance with contract. Position Specific Duties: Analyze patient's medical history, medication allergies, physical condition, and examination results to verify operation's necessity and to determine best procedure. Operate on patients to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent and treat diseases, or improve or restore patients' functions. Follow established surgical techniques during the operation. Prescribe preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures, such as sedatives, diets, antibiotics, and preparation and treatment of the patient's operative area. Examine patient to provide information on medical condition and surgical risk. Diagnose bodily disorders and conditions and provide treatments, such as medicines and surgeries, in clinics, hospital wards, and operating rooms. Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, residents, and other medical staff. Provide consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons. Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioners when necessary. Prepare case histories. Manage surgery services, including planning, scheduling and coordination, determination of procedures, and procurement of supplies and equipment. Qualifications: Graduation from an Accredited Professional School or Program recognized for its quality education in surgery. Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery. Licensed in the State of Michigan. Current DEA license. BLS, ACLS, AND PALS certified.
