This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering athletic training services to assigned teams (Men's Basketball) including prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and health care administration for the student athletes. This position is also responsible for assisting the head athletic trainer with day-to-day management of the athletic training facilities and staff and assisting with various administrative tasks. Functional Area 1: Sports Coverage Percent Effort: 40% Deliver athletic training services to student-athletes, under the direction of the head athletic trainer and team physician, including prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and health care administration for the student-athletes. Provide coverage of all home and away events as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Functional Area 2: Administration Percent Effort: 55% Assist Head Athletic Trainer with: Managing day-to-day operations of the athletic training department Managing medical claims and insurance for student-athletes. Updating Standard Operating Procedures for department. Ordering of medical supplies and equipment Maintenance of athletic training operating budget Recruitment of assistant athletic trainers Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals. Oversee monthly record of emergency medical equipment such as AED, Emergency Oxygen, emergency splints and supplies for necessary for EAP. Maintain and upkeep accurate inventory of all three athletic training facilities Organize annual safety and calibration of the Athletic Training department equipment. Review and organize EAP execution for staff, facilities, and other health care professionals. Mentors, leads, and/or supervises assistant athletic trainers; ensures quality of care to student athletes and compliance to established standards and requirements. Assist assistant athletic trainer(s) with organization of pre-participation physical exams of all student-athletes Supervise the clinical experiences of the athletic training students and assist the AT Program Director with other duties related to the Athletic Training Program. Functional Area 3: Other Duties Percent Effort: 5% Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. Two (2) years' of related experience or with collegiate athletics team Certified in the Board of Certification (BOC). Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by date of hire. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree is preferred in Athletic Training or related field. Three (3) years directly related experience. Certification as an American Red Cross Instructor for CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Experience as an athletic trainer with college sports teams. Knowledgeable of NCAA rules. Experience as a Preceptor for an Athletic Training Program. Experience in teaching, evaluating, and supervising athletic training students in clinical performance.
