AECOM Technical Services Inc. is seeking a GIS Specialist IV in Austin, TX. Job details: Create digital assets to support the planning, design, build, operation, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. Conduct analytics using interdisciplinary techniques to derive insights from structured and unstructured data, applying methods from statistics, data mining, and predictive analytics to inform decision-making. Design, develop, and implement digital solutions for both internal and external clients. Utilize tools to configure, integrate, script, and customize solutions for data collection, storage, automation, analytics, simulation, and optimization. Transform designs and data sources such as CAD, GIS, surveys, drone footage, video, and field data into complex visualizations using GIS, business intelligence, 3D modeling, and other software. Develop, test, and execute custom Python and SQL scripts for data processing and analysis, ensuring data accuracy and effective workflow automation. Create and maintain databases, designing relational structures to efficiently store and manage spatial/non-spatial data and ensure seamless integration with GIS workflows. Integrate spatial and tabular data to map, analysis, and assess real-world problems, providing comprehensive geospatial and data analysis solutions to clients. Design, build, and deploy custom GIS web applications, field survey tools and data collection forms to support spatial data collection, analysis, and visualization. Create and manage business intelligence dashboards using Tableau and Power BI, transforming complex data into actionable insights and clear visualizations. Develop dynamic Excel-based reporting tools and automate data workflows using Excel VBA. Produce clear and visually appealing maps that communicate complex spatial data effectively, leveraging ARCADE expressions for custom symbology and layouts. Perform other complex data operations such as creation, analysis, reporting, conversion, and transfer using GIS and various software, while receiving guidance on specific tasks and solutions for complex issues. Provide technical support for web application, reporting dashboards, and field survey end-users. Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to high complexity, ensuring data integrity through rigorous QA/QC processes, identifying and resolving inconsistencies to maintain high-quality datasets. May telecommute. Qualifications

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept Master's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering or related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Position requires: Using ArcGIS and QGIS for complex spatial analysis, managing geospatial data, and customizing GIS workflows; Building geospatial models, editing data, and creating effective visualizations; GIS Web Development: developing interactive maps and custom interfaces using tools like ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, Survey123, Field Maps, and StoryMaps; Working with Visual Studio Code, CSS/HTML, and JavaScript to build user-friendly web applications; Using Python libraries like ArcPy, Pandas, and GeoPandas to automate GIS tasks, streamline data collection, perform analysis, and manipulate spatial data; Working with JSON and GeoJSON formats for managing and exchanging geospatial data, ensuring accurate representation of geographic features and attributes; SQL for querying and analyzing spatial and non-spatial databases, optimizing data management and analysis tasks within relational database; Database Creation and Management: designing and managing databases using platforms such as Microsoft Access Capable of organizing, storing, and querying geospatial data and integrating it seamlessly with GIS workflows; Using ARCADE expressions to create dynamic map visualizations and applying custom symbology, improving map layouts and clarity; Data Science and Statistics Integration: integrating GIS with data science tools like R, IBM SPSS, and Jupyter Notebooks to perform statistical analyses and visualize spatial trends and correlations; ArcGIS network analysis tools and open-source routing services for transportation routing, service area analysis, and logistical planning; Cartography and Spatial Design: understanding of cartographic principles and design and creating clear and visually appealing maps that effectively communicate complex spatial data; Developing mobile GIS apps for real-time data collection and updates using platforms like Eclipse and Leaflet; Processing and analyzing LIDAR data for terrain modeling, elevation mapping, and feature extraction; and Handling raster imagery for remote sensing and environmental monitoring, and creating and editing 3D models for urban planning and visualization.
