Staff Scientist
The Sharp Lab is looking for a Staff Scientist to coordinate surgical procedures with other members of the lab, collect and record hemodynamic and physiological data, maintain analgesic and animal records, and to update animal protocols for the institutional IACUC committee as needed. Responsibilities
Perform small animal surgeries. Maintain accurate surgical and drug records for IACUC. Collect and analyzing physiological data from small animals. Communicate with team members regarding experimental scheduling. Teach fellows and student on animal handling and surgical techniques. Maintain animal colony with other lab members and checking on animal welfare. Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Contributes to facilitating and promoting a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information. Reviews laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage complex data sets for research. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Previous laboratory experience. Experience with small animal surgery. Preferred Competencies
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment. Arterial catheter insertion in small rodents. Jugular venous catheter insertion in small animals (mice/rats). Implantation of physiological monitoring equipment into small animals (mice/rats). Ability to handle awake small animals and to anesthetize them per established protocols.
