The Career Advisor builds and maintains relationships between Daemen University and employers. The Career Advisor is an instructor for Career Field Experience and Career Preparation Seminar courses each semester. Additionally, the Career Advisor will facilitate internship experiences, in partnership with students, faculty, and employers. Furthermore, the Career Advisor is responsible for building and maintaining faculty relationships, providing classroom and campus-wide professional development workshops, and supporting students and alumni through one-on-one meetings. The Career Advisor is responsible for assisting in the coordination and implementation of department events. Furthermore, the Career Advisor will connect students and alumni with employers in their industry and provide the knowledge and skills to attain job and internship opportunities. About This Opportunity
Joining our Student Affairs team, the Career Advisor will be responsible for the following: Assist the Career Services department in the coordination and facilitation of department events. Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote Career Services events and resources to students, alumni, and employers. Provide one-on-one career advisement. Perform career assessments and debrief with students and alumni. Maintain current knowledge of industry-specific information on resumes, cover letters, references, and interviewing practices. Connect students and alumni with employers in their industry. Review and provide feedback on professional documents (resume, cover letter, references) for students and alumni. Perform mock interviews and provide feedback. Create, maintain, and continuously improve Blackboard course sites for Career Field Experience and Career Preparation Seminar courses. Instruct Career Field Experience and Career Preparation Seminar courses each semester. Maintain and build relationships with department faculty and staff. Identify and network with employers to expand current internship and job opportunities for students and alumni. Actively participate in staff meetings. Run, analyze, and report on monthly and annual appointment data (and as needed). Collaborate with faculty and staff to plan and deliver classroom and campus-wide presentations. Maintain active membership on the Teacher Recruitment Days committee and involvement in WNYACCC (WNY Association of University Career Centers). Comply with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) privacy law. Remain up to date on employment policies, U.S. Labor Department Fair Labor Standards Act guidelines, and other relevant legal matters. Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
The Career Advisor position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, Education, Psychology, or a related field. The Career Advisor must have excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to work well with students, faculty, staff, and employers. Additionally, the Career Advisor must have a strong working knowledge of best practices in the field. Total Compensation
Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes: Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions, or a copay plan.
