Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist?Incumbent will provide management support to the Administrator, by providing direct supervision of Nursing. Will directly supervise nursing staff, while ensuring licensing and certification standards are met. May be required to provide direct care as needed. How does it get done?Incumbent's primary duties include the management of staff in a residential facility. Plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises the delivery of care services to residents in the facility. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. Administer medications to residents and monitors for reactions or side effects as necessary. Record residents `medical information and vital signs. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in residents¿ conditions. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate resident care plans. Development area of staff works under the guidelines and standards of the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act; State Personnel Board Rules, LVMC Policies, JCAHO Standards, Federal Certification Guidelines and the New Mexico Licensing and Certification Guidelines. May have oversight of a program budget, including ensuring revenues equal or exceed expenditures; contracting is in place to support billing; presenting budget analysis and projections to senior leadership. Ensures staff are appropriately trained in emergency preparedness activities both in the community and as first responders. Collaborates with community providers to address existing and emerging community health challenges. Responsible for planning, implementing, and participating in community outreach such as immunization clinics. Who are the customers?Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males age 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression, mental health disorder. Ideal CandidateIdeal candidate will have:The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to the facility.The ability to function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.Experience with disciplinary actions.Experience implementing policies procedures and competency.Experience with being compliant with state, Federal and JCAHO Standards.Experience Must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act Section 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable. Minimum QualificationMust possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and two (2) years of management experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and Nursing License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working ConditionsWork is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
