Physician Assistant - Medical or Surgical Dermatology ProDerm Skin & Surgery Austin, TX About Us: ProDerm Skin & Surgery is a brand new surgical, cosmetic, and medical dermatology practice in North Austin, Texas. Our mission is to provide expert dermatologic care from our Mayo Clinic-trained, board-certified dermatologist for the whole family in North Austin, Texas. Our practice has a heavy focus on Mohs surgery and cosmetic services including facial plastics, laser surgery, fillers, and Botox. Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in dermatological conditions and procedures, a passion for patient care, and a commitment to excellence. Under the supervision of our board-certified dermatologists, the PA will be responsible for providing a wide range of dermatological services, including patient consultations, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic treatments. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday with no nights or weekends required. Exceptional customer service and going above and beyond for the patient is a requirement. Responsibilities: Provides excellent patient care as per company and regulatory requirements under the direct supervision of a board-certified dermatologist (supervising physician). Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations. Diagnose and treat a wide variety of acute and chronic dermatological conditions (e.g., acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, skin cancer). Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Perform minor surgical procedures, including but not limited to: Skin biopsies (shave, punch, excisional) Cryotherapy Incision and drainage of cysts and abscesses Suture placement and removal Electrodessication and curettage Assist dermatologists in more complex surgical procedures (e.g., Mohs surgery, excisions, flaps, and grafts) as needed. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory work and pathology reports. Provide patient education on skin conditions, treatment plans, and preventative care. Prescribe appropriate medications and therapies. Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care. Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR). Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Adhere to all clinical protocols, infection control guidelines, and safety standards. Participate in continuing medical education and stay current with advancements in dermatology. Adheres to Medical Board requirements for supervision. Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff. Contribute to a positive and professional clinic environment. Work environment and physical requirements: Medical office, procedure/exam room, and laboratory environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, biohazards, or toxic substances. Daily activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting items to 25 lbs. In person requirement in Austin, Texas/ Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. Current and unrestricted state PA-C license in Texas. Current DEA registration. BLS and ACLS certification. Prior experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in a dermatology setting. (New graduates with strong Dermatology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, and/or Pediatrics rotations or other demonstrated interest will be considered). Proficiency in performing common dermatological procedures. Ability and eagerness to learn and grow. Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Preferred Skills: Experience with various dermatological lasers and cosmetic procedures (e.g., Botox, fillers) is a plus, but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages. Bilingual in Spanish. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with EMR systems (especially Modernizing Medicine EMA).
